LASER WELDER
At The Metal Shop, laser welding expands our fabrication portfolio with a high-precision, low-distortion joining process. Utilizing a concentrated beam of energy, laser welding produces deep, narrow welds with minimal heat-affected zones, making it ideal for applications that demand accuracy, repeatability, and clean aesthetics.
Equipment and Capability
Our laser welding systems are designed to handle a range of materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and specialty alloys. The process integrates seamlessly into production workflows and is particularly effective for:
Thin-Gauge Metals – delivering high-quality welds without burn-through.
Complex Geometries – precise energy delivery enables welding in tight or intricate areas.
Automated Production – laser welding cells can be easily programmed for consistent, repeatable results.
Why Laser Welding?
Precision and Quality: Produces clean, accurate welds with minimal finishing required.
Low Heat Input: Reduces distortion and preserves material properties.
High Speed: Faster processing times compared to traditional methods for many applications.
Flexibility: Suitable for spot welding, seam welding, and hermetic sealing across a variety of metals.
Automation Ready: Easily integrated with robotics for high-volume, repeatable production.
Laser welding is especially valuable in industries where tight tolerances, cosmetic weld appearance, and efficiency are critical. By leveraging this technology, The Metal Shop delivers welds that meet the stringent requirements of modern manufacturing.

The Metal Shop was started in 2002 by Duane Swift. After spending 30 years in the Navy and working for another exhibit company, the opportunity to start a small business was offered.
