CNC Machining
At The Metal Shop, we handle complex machining projects efficiently by combining laser and waterjet cutting for rough profiles with in-house CNC machining for precision finishing. This integrated workflow reduces outsourcing, lowers costs, and shortens lead times for our customers.
Equipment and Capacity
Turning: DMG Mori NLX 2500 turning center with live tooling and sub-spindle.
Feed size up to 3″, turning length up to 26″.
Capable of machining both ends of a part in one setup.
Milling:
Mitsubishi vertical mill – 35″ × 85″ capacity for large parts.
NVT vertical mill – 40″ × 20″ capacity for precision mid-size work.
Mazak VTC – 20″ × 110″ for long-format milling.
All CNC machines are programmed with MasterCam, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and optimized tool paths for each project.
Strengths
Prototyping & Short Runs: Fast, flexible turnaround for low-volume jobs.
Complex Geometries: Live tooling and long-bed milling expand design possibilities.
Cost Efficiency: Complete part processing in-house, from rough cut to final machining.
With our state-of-the-art equipment and expert machinists, The Metal Shop is a reliable resource for precision machining of any size or complexity.

The Metal Shop was started in 2002 by Duane Swift. After spending 30 years in the Navy and working for another exhibit company, the opportunity to start a small business was offered.
