TIG
At The Metal Shop, TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding is our primary welding process and the foundation of our aluminum fabrication work. With approximately 90% of our projects involving aluminum, our team has extensive expertise in producing high-quality, precision TIG welds.
While aluminum is our specialty, we are also fully capable of welding mild steel and stainless steel, making TIG a versatile process across a range of applications.
Equipment and Capability
Our shop is equipped with:
Four TIG Welders:
Miller Dynasty 700
Miller Dynasty DX
Two Miller Syncrowave 250 DX machines
MIG and CMT Welding Systems: Three Miller TIG welders and two MIG welders, including a Fronius CMT MIG welder for added versatility.
All welded components are prepared using our laser, waterjet, or turret punch cutting systems, ensuring precision fit-up and efficient fabrication workflows.
Why Tig Welding?
TIG welding is slower than MIG, but it offers:
Superior Precision: Ideal for thin materials and applications requiring tight control.
Versatility: Can be used at lower amperages for thin-gauge aluminum and even exotic metals.
High-Quality Welds: Excellent aesthetics, consistency, and mechanical integrity.
Process Reliability: A proven choice when quality and accuracy take precedence over speed.
Our combination of experienced welders, specialized equipment, and advanced cutting processes ensures we deliver repeatable, production-grade welds to meet the demands of modern manufacturing.

The Metal Shop was started in 2002 by Duane Swift. After spending 30 years in the Navy and working for another exhibit company, the opportunity to start a small business was offered.
